Our Mission

Ambrosia Foods is a Trinidad and Tobago based Snack Company that seeks to produce innovative Caribbean snacks which utilize local inputs. We are on a mission to celebrate the wholesome ingredients that are available right here in the Caribbean by updating and expanding classic/traditional Caribbean snacks for the modern consumer with an eye to competing on the international stage.

At Ambrosia Food, we are committed to nurture sustainability and making a positive impact on the environment and communities we serve. We strive to align our practices with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) by 2030 to contribute towards a more sustainable future.

Responsible Sourcing 

We take great pride in producing a line of value-added products made from over 80% of locally grown and locally manufactured raw ingredients. By sourcing locally, we reduce transportation emissions and support local farmers, contributing to import substitution. This approach is in accordance with the SDG 12, which advocates for the advancement of responsible consumption and production.

Ethical Agriculture & Waste Reduction

We are committed to sourcing our fresh herbs and peppers (seasonings) from approved local farmers who adhere to sustainable agricultural practices. These farmers provide us with high-quality ingredients while minimizing their environmental impact. To further minimize waste, we use biodegradable flour bags for herb and pepper delivery, and any large clear bags are repurposed as garbage bags. By supporting ethical agriculture and waste reduction, we contribute to the achievement of UN SDG 2 & 15, which aims to eliminate hunger and promote sustainable food production.

Circular Economy & Community Engagement

We firmly believe in the concept of a circular economy, where waste becomes a valuable resource. In line with this principle, we return the stalks from the peppers and the bulb of the chive to community farmers, enabling them to harness these by products effectively. Moreover, within our own operations, we cultivate chive bulbs in our kitchen garden, further minimizing waste and fostering community engagement. These initiatives align harmoniously with SDGs 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 13 (Climate Action).

Waste Management & Recycling 

To address the issue of waste, we have partnered with New Age Recycling Limited to recycle all cardboard and paper waste generated in our operations. By accurately managing and recycling these materials, we reduce our environmental impact and promote a more sustainable waste management system. Additionally, we actively reuse some of our cardboard boxes, extending their lifespan and minimizing waste. These initiatives contribute to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) & SDG 17 (Partnership for the goals).

Sustainable Packaging Solution

Recognizing the environmental impact of plastic waste on marine ecosystems, we have made a conscious decision to replace our plastic packaging with Kraft paper pouches. This shift to eco-friendly packaging alternatives enables us to reduce our reliance on plastic materials and contribute to the preservation of life below water, in alignment with UN SDG 12 & 14.
